DR SAMUEL BEDE OGEMBO

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Dr Samuel Bede Ogembo. He was formerly a Permanent Secretary responsible for East African Community and Regional Co-operation in the Office of the President.

Husband of the late Teresia Ritah Moraa Ogembo and Juliet Rehema Masha Ogembo. Father of Rhoda Riunga, the late Betty Valdez, Alice Pardovani, Catherine Mundia, Steven Okwoyo (USA), Leonard Mokua (Indonesia), Rhoda, the late Edward Sagana and Cynthia Ogembo. Father-in-law of the late Steve Valdez, the late Mundia Gacheru and Chris Riungu Matu.

Son of the late Mzee Jenesio Ochoki Maiso and the late Mama Paustina Nyaboke Ochoki. Brother of the late Sabina Amima, Michael Nyamachere, Joseph Okwoyo, the late Thomas Nyakundi, Mark Nyakwama, Mary Ongechi, Phillip Motari (USA) and the late William Momanyi. Cousin of the Okwoyo’s of Irondi, Abuta’s of Riomweri, the Okari’s, Motari’s, Ogembo’s and Momanyi’s of Gesabakwa, Abigael of Kabosi, Barasa Michielea and Nyakundis of Ikorongo and aunts ikaria Okwoyo, Nyamwembe of Kisii, Moraa of Birongo.

Grandfather of  Fraser Valdez (UK), Waithera Mundie (UK) Emily and Joshua Halakhe, Gacheru Mundia, Nieri Mundia, Linda Alvarez (USA), Callum Matere and Cavan Sagana. Great-grandfather of Jazil, Mundia, Jael, Waithera, Maya, Joel and Neela (twins) and Muthoni. Uncle of Mheshimiwa Kennedy Nyakundi, among others and a cousin of many.

Family and friends are meting daily for prayers at his home in Matutu Settlement Scheme Riamsnoti.

The cortege will leave Hema Hospital, on Thursday 5th November, 2020 at 11.00am for Mass at Amasago Parish Keumbu, and a second Mass at his Church, Omokonge Shrine, Nyandoche.

The Funeral ceremony will be on Friday 6th November, 2020 at Nyansiongo Grounds, Kijauri, from 9.00am and thereafter, a Private Burial Service will be held at his home.
