It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance that we announce the demise of Japuonj Teacher, Retired Inspector of Schools Jogoo House Mzee Christopher Ojienda Odayo of Gem Rae North Nyakach in Kisumu County which occurred on 17th March 2021 at Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu after long illness.
Son to the late Zephania Odayo and Dorina Osir of Gem Rae. Beloved husband to Agneta Odundo Ojienda and Peris Akinyi Ojienda. Father to Beatrice Okoko (Ministry of Sports, Culture & Heritage), Dickson Ojienda (Bar Korumba Secondary School), Sarah Ojienda (SA Lwanda Secondary Kimilili), Eve Ojienda, Silas Ojienda (Kisumu), Prof. Tom Ojienda SC, Seth Ojienda (Advocate), Wilkister Ojienda (Advocate Public Prosecution), Robert Ojienda (NLC Migori), Dorine Ojienda (Kasamani & Co. Advocates), Zephania Ojienda (Katito) and Ebenezer Ojienda (Bugema University). Father-in-law to Eng. He was Nyawana to the Okokos (Oyugis), the Jakoyos (Nyahera), the Hongos (Kisumu), the John Auras Jakama and Wilkister Aura (Kajulu), the Katees (Kitui), the Oripas (Teso), the Ombwayos (Nyakach), the Wattas (Seme) and many others. Nephew to late Aduda, Ogada, Awino, Owuocha, Ong’or, Oyare, Asewe & Ex Chief James Obwa (Ogai) of Gem Rae. Grandfather to Eng. Steve Okoko, Dr. Stella Okoko, Brian Ochieng (Advocate), Tracy (Captain KQ), Joseph Ochieng (Manitoba), Eng. Francis Ojwang, Dr Brian Watta, Alicia, Faith, Crissy and 30 other grandchildren. Great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren.
The cortege leaves Aga Khan Hospital on Thursday 25th March 2021 at 8.30am for a requiem mass at CCA Gem Rae, Nyakach and thereafter proceeds to his home in Gem Rae for burial on Friday 26th March 2021.
