PROF. JOHN OGONY ODIYO

The Odiyo family wishes to announce the sudden promotion to glory in South Africa of Prof. John Ogony Odiyo, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Vaal University of Technology, South Africa and Professor of Water Engineering and, formerly of University of Venda, South Africa and Egerton University, Kenya.

Son of the late James Aggrey Odiyo and Philgona Fwaga Odiyo of Lusi School, Masala Sub-location, Rarieda Sub-county. Husband of Lilian Odiyo of South Africa. Father of Winnie, Steve (both of Australia), Eugene and Brian (both of South Africa).

Brother of Agnes Ogweno, the late Charles Odiyo, Teresa Ouma, Jane Ogweno, Zedekiah Obonyo Odiyo, Joan Odie, Dr, Wilson Osito Odiyo, Prisca Akoth, George Omollo Odiyo and Martha Osura. Brother-in-law to, among others, Mary Otieno, Joan Obonyo and Nancy Oyugi as well as the Mawere’s of Sakwa, Kipasi.

Nephew of the late Joseph Walaji, the late Edward Ochieng, the late Hesborn Oleche, the late Dorca Oyaro and Jeremiah Okra, all of Asembo Kakia as well as the late Henry Mita, the late Omollo, the late Booker Ongallo, the late Kepha Lusi and the late Obilla, all of Uyoma Kokiri, Nyabera School.

John’s body arrives in Kenya on Thursday 8th July, 2021. He will be laid to rest on Saturday 10th July, 2021, at his Lusi home, Asembo Kakia, Rarieda Sub-county.
