JOSEPH RICHARD AKELLO (JR)

1936 – 2021

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mr. Joseph Richard Akello (JR) which occurred on 23rd October 2021 after a long illness.

Son of the late Girison Onyango Awino and the late Phoebe Ogeta. His stepmothers are the late Hellena Orinda, the late Rose Awuor, the late Pascalia Ogonda, and Philigona Akoko. Loving husband to the late Alice Akello, Judith Akello, Mikal Akello and the late Keziah Akello. Son-in-law to the late Killion Opiyo and the late Penina Opiyo, the late Osumba Kasera and the late Priscila Osumba, the late Gedion Agwa and Dorcas Agwa.

Brother to the late Philemon Awino, the late Joe Agoro, late David Otina, the late Alphonse Okoth, Elmad Ongere, Tom Ojuok, John Onyango, Dennis Onunda, the late Deborah Adhiambo, the late Esther Gaga, the late Pamela Oloo, the late Marren Yoto, Mary Aoko, Margaret Yoto, Jane Omollo, Grace Ngiela, Mary Kiche, Kerina Olela and Eunice Akoth. Father to Vicky, John, Fred, Wilfred, Wilberforce, Vina, Whitney and Janet Father in law to Charles, Emily, Vera, Bernette, Moses, Joseph.

Grandfather to Wilborn, Laureen, Brian,Tim, Sarah, Brillian and many others. Joseph was an uncle, cousin, and a mentor to many.

The burial will take place on Friday, 12th November 2021, at Kanyawino Village, Kagan Homabay County starting at 9 am.
