BENADETTA NJERI GITIHA (BENA/MAMA GAKUNJU)

It is with sadness & humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the demise of our beloved Benadetta N. Gitiha (Bena) on 1st February 2023, after a long illness bravely borne. She was a dedicated Church Leader of The Apostolic Faith Church — Njathaini.

Bena was a loving and caring wife to the late Solomon Gitiha Gakunju (Solo), an adorable mother to Joan Wanjiku (Kamulu), Elizabeth Njoki (Wanjeri of Bustani), Timothy & Christine Gakunju (Eddy Currents’ Electricals/Christec Ent.), Stephen Njoroge (Maisha Bora SACCO) & Susan Njoroge, Martha Njeri (USA), Wambui Gitiha, Dr. Jeremiah & Ansally Ngugi (USA).

She was a doting grand-ma to Jane Njeri (USA), Roselyn Nduta, Bena Njeri (USA), Peninah Wambui, Humphrey Gitiha (USA), Juliet Njeri, Elvis Kinyanjui, Evelyn Njeri,Titus Gakunju, Solomon Gitiha, Melanie Njeri (USA), Hasadiah Barnabas, James Kamau & Amelie. Great grand-ma to Nylah, Zahria, Fabio, Ellah, Gianna & Hava.

Daughter to the late John Njoroge (Muini) & the late Jane Njoki (Wa Muini). Sister to the late Mary Wambui, Gathoni Wanyugi, the late Wanjiku Gatimu, Josephat Ngugi, the late Teresiah Makoi, Margaret Wahu, Agnes Mburu & Salome Nduta.

Daughter-in-law to the late Timothy & Gladys Gakunju.And sister-in-law to the late Jeremiah & Isabella Ngugi, the late Hon. Z.K Gakunju & Mary Kimemia, the late Martha Njeri Mugithi, the late Simon & Teresiah Mwotto, the late Francis Waweru & Jane Waweru, the late Sammy Ngoru, the late J. Chege (Dr. Kaf) & Virginia Chege. Also sister-in-law to Veronica Macua, Beth Wangui, Ruth Karugano, Tere Gakunju, Margaret Ichoho, Jeremiah Ngugi, Zack Mbiro & Jane Thumbi. Aunt to many nieces and nephews, a friend and mentor to many.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily for prayers & funeral arrangements at her residence off Kiambu road, Bustani Estate, next to Starehe Girls’ Centre from 4:00p.m.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 7th February 2023 from 4:30pm at Deliverance Church Zimmerman.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Teaching & Referral Hospital Mortuary (by pass) on Friday, 10th February 2023 at 8:30am followed by a Church Service and burial at Karembu, Gatundu South at 10.30am.
