The Last Bow of The Family Patriarch

1943 to May 2023

On 24th May 2023, a dark cloud engulfed the entire Kochola Clan enveloping all the four sub-clans of Joka Nyoyang’, Joka Tonde, Joka Akoth and Joka Nyanandi in Seme Kombija, Alwala announcing the passing of our beloved Patriarch Mzee Martin Okwach Nyakako.

Born in 1943 to the late Raphael Nyakako and the late Mama Kezia Mamba, Martin Okwach was the first born child of eight children namely Sospeter Mwalo, the late Lorna Odhaji, the late Hesbon Onyango, Adah Ondiegi, Rhoda Ogola, Noah Okumu and Mary Osimbo.

Beloved husband of Jane Okwach (Nyaguyo) and son-in-law to the late NiKolai and the late Esther Aguyo of Kisumo Kapuonja.

Mzee Okwach is the father of, Arthur & Rachel Ochieng, Esnas & Washington Omondi, Caleb & Hellen Odhiambo, Oscar & Zena Nyakako, the late Shem Jakotetni, Lucas, Rose & Joyce Olwe, Florence and Willis Ongele, Esther and Eric Odhiambo and proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Nyawana to Elphas and the late Fridah Nyambaka of Sikhendu Kitale, the late Henry & Christabel Genga of Sakwa Maranda, Raphael &Christabel Jamba of Seme Bodi Kolunje, James & Alice Angwenyi of Kisii Suneka, the late Wilson and the late Peris Rimba of Asembo Kokise, the late Jacob & Mary Magero of Pala Koguta Homabay, the late Peter & Jeniffer Abaja of Koyugi Homabay.

The cortege leaves Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary on Thursday, 15th June 2023 at 10.00 am. A memorial service will be conducted at 2.00pm on the same day at St. Luke’s Alwala ACK Church in Seme Kombija.

Mzee Martin Okwach will be interred on Friday, 16th June 2023 at his home in Seme, Kombija Alwala.
