DR. EDITH KAMARU KWOBAH

27th February 1982 ~ 22nd March 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Edith Kamaru Kwobah. She was a loving wife, doting mother, brilliant

psychiatrist, lecturer, researcher, humanitarian, mentor and inspirational leader. 

Until her demise, Edith was serving as the Director of Mental Health & Rehabilitative Services at Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH), and

as the Deputy Executive Director for Research at the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH). She leaves an indelible mark

on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born with a passion for always doing good, she pushed the boundaries of all she set out to do. She was a beacon of wisdom and compassion and embodied the true essence of humanity.

Edith had an unparalleled ability to inspire and uplift those around her, whether at work or at the community level. Her memory will forever remain

etched in the countless hearts fortunate enough to know her and whose lives she touched.

She was the beloved daughter of Mr. Nelson Kamaru Karanja and Mrs. Elizabeth Wanjiku Kamaru, daughter in-law to the late George Kwobah

and the late Grace Kwobah, a cherished wife to Dr. Charles Kwobah, and a treasured mother to Elsie (Butere Girls), Jasmine (CITAM school) and

Beraka (Etham School).

Edith held a special place as a loving sister to Beatrice, Karanja, Triza, Rose, Mary and John. She was deeply loved as a sister-in-law of Samuel,

Catherine, Daniel, Francis, Jacob, Leah and also Leonard & Helen, Robert & Rose, Betty & Robert, Eddie & Miriam, Moreen & Kandie, Noreen & Lawrence.

Her nurturing presence extended to her role as an aunt, where she embraced Kwobah Kibet, when he lost his mother at birth, with boundless

love and affection. edith’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of her many cousins especially faith who was a confidant.

Edith, your life was well lived, and legacy well left. We cherish your memory with heartfelt remembrance and appreciation for the love you

bestowed upon us.

The cortege leaves MTRH Farewell Home on Friday, 29th March 2024 at 8.00 am and thereafter a service will be held to celebrate her life from

10.00am at AIC Fellowship, Eldoret. She will be laid to rest at her home in Kipkoriony village, Kitale on Saturday, 30th March 2024
