MR. JONATHAN FESTUS CHERUIYOT BIRIR

14th September 1938 – 26th June 2024

It is with heavy hearts and the Acceptance of God’s Will, We announce the passing on 26th June 2024, of our beloved Mzee Jonathan Birir, Former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Chairman, Kenya National Shipping Lines.

He was the beloved husband of the late Jane Birir and the late Naomi Birir.

He was a loving father of the late Ibrahim, Winnie, the late Beatrice, the late Rebecca, Caroline, Peter, the late Eric, Christine and Sarah.

Father-in-law of Dinah Tallam, Evalyne, the late Solomon Koimett, Miriam Ngugi, Roderick Mitei, Aggrey Kang’ahi and Jonathan Masyuko.

He was a brother of the late Tapsarga Chemisto, Shadrack Birir, the late Elizabeth Chepkutung, the late Joyce Chesire, the late Luka Birir and Priscilla Birir.

Grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be meeting on Monday 8th July 2024 at AIC Milimani from 5.30 p.m.

There will be a Memorial Service at Kileleshwa Covenant Community Church Nairobi on Wednesday 10th July 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

The cortege leaves Siloam Mortuary Kericho on Friday 12th July 2024 at 8:00 am for a Memorial Service at 9:00 am at his Kericho home.

Thereafter he will be laid to rest on Saturday 13th July 2024 at his home in Kaplimo village, Lelboinet, Elgeyo Marakwet County at 10:00 am.
