STEPHEN UNGU LAICHENA

February, 1944 – July 17, 2024

It is with great sadness and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mr.Stephen Ungu Laichena of Maua Bookshop and the President of Gideon International, Mt Kenya Region, on July 17, 2024 at AIC Kijabe Hospital after a short illness.

He was the son of the Late Laichena Kiruba and the Late Julia Nkoroi.

Son in-law of the Late Josufu M’iburi and the Late Mariam Inokobia.

Loving husband of Ruth Kaundu Ungu and loving father of Eng David Mugambi of Kenya Power, Dr. Joy Mugambi County Director Health – Nakuru, the Late Roslyne Nkirote, Justine Mwiti – USA, Advocate Christine Kawira, Gloria Kanario of Kenya Power, Samuel Njai – Nakuru, Joseph Mwenda of Nthimbili Primary School and Ann Mwenda of Nyambene Arimi Sacco.

Dotting grandfather of Mercy Kendi, Newton Munene, Lily Nkatha, Michelle Wanjiru, Ashley Kagendo, Mellisa Megan, Precious Mwenda and Michelle Mwenda.

In-law of Lily Mwenda, Charles Nyumoo, Joyce Nyumoo, Moses Gatharia, and Ruth Wanjiru.

Brother of Elijah Laichena, Nathan Mpekethu and Sabina Karauki.

Step Brother of the Late Peter M’Kiunga Laichena, the Late Festus Murega, the Late M’mugambi Laichena, the late Fredrick Gituma Laichena, Kathure Baitumitu, the Late Makutho Nkubito, the Late Mwonjiru M’thirari, the Late Kanjira Lumata, and Esther Kamami M’thiringi.

He was an uncle of many nieces and nephews, and an invested grand uncle of many.

Family, friends and Relatives are meeting daily from 3.00p.m. at his home in Kumari Village, Machungulu Sub-Location, Akirang’ondu Location and at Sunstar Hotel, Thika Road, Nairobi from 6.00a.m.

The cortege will leave Cool Breeze Funeral Home (Meru-Nanyuki Road) on Friday 26th July 2024 and proceed for a funeral service at Machungulu Primary School grounds at 10:00am.

The final ceremony and interment of Stephen Ungu will be at his home in KK Market, Igembe Central.
