ELIZABETH WANGUI GAKUI

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Elizabeth Wangui Gakui, which occurred on October 3, 2024, at the age of 91.

She was the cherished second-born daughter of the late Nathaniel Githae and the late Priscillah Nyaruthanji Githae, and sister of the late Ndurumo, Julia Nderitu, the late Peris Wanjiku, the late Mary Kirathe, the late Nyagetha Kamau, Charles Mbare and the late John Nderitu. 

Elizabeth was the mother of the late Susan Mumbi,Teresa Wanjiru, the late Philip Maina, Stephen Githae, Priscillah Nyawira, Joseph Mwangi, Ndurumo Gakui, Julia Kariuki, Monica Wairimu, Bernad Wamae, Peris Wanjiku, John Nderitu, and Peter Wachira.

She was a loving mother-in-law of Nancy Maina, Elizabeth Cherotich, John Matu, Judy Mwangi, Amb. Jane Ndurumo, Kariuki Theuri, the late Eng.Wachiuri Ngunjiri, David Mbugua and Lucy Nderitu.

Grandmother to many, with a legacy that extends to her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

Daily meetings will be held at her home in Tumutumu and at All Saints Cathedral from 5.00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

The burial will be on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Tumutumu.

The cortege will leave Jamii Nursing Hospital, Karatina, at 9:00 AM.

The Mass will be held at Mbogoini Chief’s Open Ground next to Mbogoini Catholic Church, followed by interment at her home.

Eternal Rest grant unto Elizabeth, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
