It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing on of our beloved Amb. Denis Daudi Afande of Matayos, Busia County, on 06/06/2021, as a result of complications arising from an accident. He was a former Chief of Protocol, Ambassador to the USA and UN Geneva, Permanent Secretary, among other key positions.

Loving husband to Julita Chitere. Son of the late Senior Asst. Chief Daudi Afande Okine and the late Mama Marsiana Khadudu (Namakangala). Nephew to the late Rev. Sr. Benedicta, the late Bibi, the late Timoteo, the late Eliseyo, the late Samuel and Abakangala, among others.

Loving father to Caroline Alston, Edwin Afande, Konrad Afande, Belinda Chery and Stephen Afande Father-in-law to Robert Alston, Dr. Sophie Muluka and Dr. Patrick Chery. Son-in-law to Veronica Nyarotso Kongani and Dionisio Oundo Murende. Co-parent-in-law of Bilha Muluka and Adeline Chery. Grandfather to Laura, Julie, Arthur, Aisha and Denis. Great-grandfather to Naya and Jai.

Brother to Lucia, Juliana, the late Linus, the late Faustin, Albert, Valentine, Imelda, Domitilla Omuse, Consolata, Wilfrida, Vincent, Marilline ,Christopher, and George, among others. Brother-in-law to the late Mathias Oundo, the late Mary Ngong’a, the late Calisto Ojiambo, the late Samson Andera, the late Jane Afande, Patrick Musumba, Marsiana, Beatrice, Christine, Praxides, and Topista, among others.

Cousin to Col (Rtd) Fred Okello and all Gem Umani clan, the late George Omoyi, Albert Oruma, Dick Ochwadi, Patrick Obara, George Kiila, Robert Ojiambo, Jessica Mukanda, and Patrick Abachi, among others.

There will be a fundraising to offset his medical bill and funeral expenses at the Holy Family Minor Basilica, 7th Floor, Room St John Paul II, on Tuesday, 15/06/2021 from 4.00pm.

A requiem mass will be held at Holy Family Minor Basilica on Wednesday 16/06/2021, at 10.00am There will be a requiem mass at St Stephen’s Catholic Church – Lwanya, Matayos, Busia on Friday, 18/06/2021, at 1.00pm he interment will take place at his home in Matayos, Busia on Saturday, 19106/2021, at 9.00am.

The gap left in Abamani clan will be filled by Jesus only.
