AMBASSADOR ERNEST CHERUIYOT ARAP LANG’AT

We are saddened to announce the resting of our beloved father, Ambassador Ernest Cheruiyot arap Lang’at, who passed away on the evening of Wednesday 3rd February, 2021, at the age of 88.

The first born of the late Abraham arap Boboi and the late Raeli Tapletgoi Boboi. Son-in-law of the late Senior Chief Daudi Kirui and the late Elizabeth Tabutany Kirui. He was married to the late Ludiah Cherotich Lang’at for 62 years and was the loving father of nine daughters: Nancy Lang’at, the late Alice Lagat, Prof Caroline Thoruwa, Dr. Betty Chirchir, Dr. Judith Mutahi, Rosemary Rop, Audrey Rahedi, Joyce Githu and Valerie Lang’at. Father-in-law of Fred Lagat, Prof. Thomas Thoruwa, Davis Chirchir, Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi, Kimutai Rop, Bill Rahedi and Githu Ndiritu.

Brother of the late Leah Sang, the late Isaac Lang’at, the lace Joseph Lang’at, the late Jeremiah Lang’at, Elizabeth Koske, the late Anna Lang’at and Noah Lang’at. Brother-in-law of the late Michael Sang, the late Jane Lang’at, Raeli Penina Lang’at, Rachel Lang’at, the late Joseph Koske and Rusi Lang’at. Grandfather of Vanessa, Yvonne, Brian, Keith, Daniella, Abrahaminel, Michael, Jonathan, Cheptoo, Chebet, June, Nicola, Mimi, Dr. Kipkoech, Tapkili, Tanyi, Boboi, Rotuk, Ritho, Shiro and great-grand father of Ella Netai, Nile Ndungu and Eden Chepkemoi.

Brother-in-law of the late Mary Ngasura, the late Sara Tuei, Naomi Chumo, Anna Koech, Mariko Chumo and Miriam Tele, Joseph Chumo, Barnabas Chumo, Jeremiah Chumo, Joel Chumo, Jane Mutai, Steven Chumo, Ester Keter, Rebecca Kileges, Betty Cheruiyot, the late Vivian Cheruiyot, Jacob Chumo and Rusi Lang”at.

Family members meet from 6:00pm on Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th February, 2021, for prayers and remembrance at Kitisuru home, Nairobi. Meetings are also ongoing at Kaptebeswet Farm. Kericho.

The Tuesday evening prayer service will be streamed online at 6:00pm Kenya time on the following zoom link:https://us02web.zoom.us/j/450761171 (meeting ID: [456 076 1771] – Password: [874411 ]).This will be an opportunity for friends and family to share their tributes.

A funeral service will be held at Nairobi Baptist Church, Ngong Road at 9:00am on Thursday 11th February, 2021, before the cortege leaves for Kericho. A service will be held at Kugerwet African Gospel Church, Kericho at 10:00 am Friday 12th February, 2021 and thereafter burial at Kaptebeswet Farm.
