DAVID GICHERU KIMITA

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of David Gicheru Kimita of Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) on 14th November 2024 after a long  illness, bravely borne.

He was son of the late Solomon Kimita Mugo and Elizabeth Wairimu Kimita (Gatugi, Karima, Othaya).

Son in law of the late Wilson Muriuki Munyi and Lydia Wanjugu Muriuki (Nanyuki).

Loving husband of Rachael Muthoni of International Rescue Committee (IRC).

Father of Lee Kimita (UON), Malcom Muriuki (Murang’a High School) and Mark Mugo (Mt Laverna School, Kasarani).

Brother of Godfrey Mugo (Murang’a University), Tabitha Wanjiru (Parklands Shade Hotel(K1)), Janeffer Wangari (Umoja Primary School, Nakuru), Elijah Mengo (Consolata Primary School, Othaya), Rebecca Waithiegeni and Amos Maina.

Brother-in-law of:Ann Wangui, GS Muchiri (Principal, Nyandarua High School), Stella Syomau, Ann Nyaguthii, Joan Kogi, James Ngatia, Dr.Erastus Thoronjo (Mt. Kenya University), Leah Wairimu, John Weru, Francis Kagema and Peter Muriithi. He was a dear uncle and mentor to many.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements at his Nairobi and Othaya homes from 5:00pm.

Requiem mass will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, Kasarani on Monday 25th November 2024 at 3.00pm.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Funeral home (KU, Thika Road) on Tuesday 26th November 2024 at 7:00am for a funeral mass at Gatugi Primary School grounds and thereafter, burial at his home in Mbuki Village, Karima, Othaya.
