DR. FREDRICK OTIENO OKINYI

5th December 1976 – 22nd September, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Dr. Fredrick Otieno Okinyi of the University of Nairobi’s Department of Human Pathology and Head of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Unit. 

His untimely demise occurred on September 22nd, 2024, at Mater Hospital. Dr. Fredrick was the beloved son of Joseph Okinyi Okelo and Jane Adipo Okinyi from Gem, Lihanda Village.

He was the cherished husband of Carolyne Narocho Makheti of CPHD and a doted father of Ryan Jaoko Okinyi of Kabarak High School. 

He was a dear brother of Benedict, Philip, Alex, Mary, Alfred, Caroline, Gerphas, Anjeline, Beatrice, and James.

Dr. Fredrick was a son-in-law of Gaxton Makheti and Hadija Makheti of Kakamega, and a brother-in-law to Hilda, Collins, Edwin, Stanley, and Brenda.

He will be fondly remembered by his cousins; Messo’s, Anyanga’s, Keziah’s, Oneya’s, and Nichola’s, among others.

Requiem mass will be held at International Christian Center (ICC) Nairobi west on Thursday 3rd October, 2024 from 9:30am.

The cortege leaves Nairobi on 4th October, for burial slated for 5th October, 2024 at his home in Gem at Lihanda village, Siaya County.

There will be a major fund’s drive to offset bills and funeral expenses at The International Christian Center (ICC) Nairobi West on Tuesday 1st October, 2024 from 4:30pm. Contributions can be channeled to Paybill 880100, Account 5996850011
