HON. MR. JUSTICE LEONARD NJAGI (RTD)

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Hon. Mr. Justice Leonard Njagi (Rtd) after a prolonged illness bravely borne, which occurred on 5th September 2021.

Son of the late Simon Njeru Karanja and the late Jeniffer Marigu. Step-son of Ruguru and Njeri. Husband of Dorcas Muthoni Njagi. Father of Caesar and Lucy Munene (North Carolina) James Kinyua and Angela Karimi. Grandfather of Brian, Aretha, Njoki, Wambeere, Joy and Jasmine. Brother of the late Geoffrey, the late Dickson, Weruma, the late Denis, Kathumbi, Kariuki, Maina,Wakina and many others.

The late Justice Njagi began his career in 1968 as a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers. He later joined the University of Nairobi in 1970 where he helped set up the Faculty of Law. From 1987 – 2003 he served as Principal, Kenya School of Law. He was an icon in the legal profession, greatly respected and honoured, having trained most of the eminent Judges, magistrates and practitioners. He joined the Judiciary in 2003 as a Judge of the High Court and worked in Milimani Commercial Courts and Mombasa Law Courts. Justice Njagi retired in 20I4 after serving the Judiciary for 11 years.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Embu, Gatunduri Kiangima Sub-location farm, at 3.00pm.

The cortege leaves Gakwegori Funeral Home on Saturday, 11th September 2021, at 9.00am, for a funeral service and burial to be held at his home.
