It is with great regret that we announce the passing on of “Mwalimu” John Eli Okinyi, firstborn son of the late Chief Ephraim Okal and the late Helen Atieno of Mfangano West Wakula Sub-Location.

Husband of the late Esther Owaga and Beatrice Onduto. Father of Jack Okinyi, Anne Okinyi, Evelyne Okinyi, Elizabeth Okinyi, Beryl Nelly Okinyi, Chief Andrew Okal and Philip Okinyi. Grandfather of Bruce Kunkio, Jesse Abebe, Hope Enkawi, Mike Farad, Jeremy Okello, John Andy Okinyi, Rhodah Menorah, Arthur Odira and Walterene Andrews. Brother of the late Rachael Kolwa, the late Syprose, Grace, Rosebell, Peter, Isaac, Jane, Dorothy, Narry, Dr. Ombaka amongst others.

The cortege leaves Avenue Hospital on Thursday 23rd July 2020 and burial on Friday 24th July 2020 at his home in Homabay County, Mbita Sub-Location, Kasgunga Village.
