1939 – 2021

We announce the death of John Ngugi Ndabi, which occurred on 7th November, 2021, at his home in Mang’u, Gatundu North, Kiambu County.

Son of the late Peter Ndabi and late Hanna Wangari. Husband of Mary Wambui. Father of Michael Ndabi Ngugi (Kibii Primary School), the late Jane Wangari Muikamba, Eng. George Nyoike Ngugi (KETRACO), Susan Wanjiku Ngugi (Thika High School for the Blind), Martin Kinyanjui Ngugi (Nation Media Group), Sophia Wanjiku Ngugi (International Rescue Committee), Andrew Mbugua Ngugi (Cordaid, South Sudan), David Mburu Ngugi (Githurai), Catherine Nduta Ngugi (Unbound Kenya) and Joseph Wainaina Ngugi (Equity Bank head office).

Father-in-law of John Muikamba, Lucy Mbugua (NCCK), the late Alice Wanjiku, Wilson Wambugu Kigwa, Patricia Wairimu, Hodia Wanjiru and Mary Kimani. Brother of the late Wanjiku Washington, Ng’endo Mbuthia, Raphael Mburu, Cecilia Nyambura, Mercy Wangui, the late Gabriel Kinyanjui and the late Julia Wanjiru. Step-brother of Muthoni, Simon Ndung’u, Douglas Kimemia, late Cllr. Ngugi Wa Ndabi, the late Peter Ngugi, among others. Grandfather of Alex Gitau (HFCK), Josephine Wambui, Valarie Njeri (KU), Vincent Ngugi, among others.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Funeral Home, on Tuesday, 16th November, 2021, followed by funeral service at Mang’u Catholic Church, at 10.00am. Burial will follow thereafter at his home in Mang’u village.

Relatives and friends are meeting at 2.00pm, daily at his Mang’u home, for funeral arrangements.
