It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of our Patriarch John Njogu Gathatwa on Monday, 20th January 2025.

Son of the late Gathatwa Kabiru and the late Wambui Gathatwa.

Son-in-law of the Late Mr & Mrs Joram Muinamia and Mr & Mrs Zachariah Ng’ang’a.

Brother of the late Kabiru Gathatwa, Lucia Wanjiru, Margaret Wairimu, the late Mbugua Gathatwa, Francis Gathu, the late Gathegi Gathatwa, and Jacinta Nyakio, among many others.

Brother-in-law of Sospeter Mwithiga Gathui, Anne Gathoni Gathu and Benjamin Kamau Gachigi, among many others.

Beloved husband of Teresia Njoki Njogu and Mary Mwihaki Njogu.

Father of Daniel Ndung’u Njogu, Margaret Wambui Njogu, Lillian Njambi Njuguna, Jacinta Wanjiru Mwangi, the late Jennifer Wambui Njogu, Geoffrey Gathatwa Njogu, Robinson Ng’ang’a Njogu and Catherine Wambui Njogu.

Father-in-law of the Late Ann Wanjiru Ndung’u, Ann Nyambura Ndung’u, Daniel Njuguna Ndung’u, Harrison Mwangi Njoroge, and Lucy Wangari Ng’ang’a.

Grandfather of James Njogu Ndung’u, Diana Njoki Ndung’u, Alex Ngigi Njoroge, Harriet Wangari Ndung’u, Trisha Wambui Ndung’u, Emily Wambui Ndung’u, Shalom Ndung’u Njuguna, Praise Wanja Njuguna, Mercy Wangonyo Mwangi, Jahaziel Karunye, Joel Njoroge Mwangi, Joypeniel Njoki Mwangi and Shahmeer Jackan.

Great grandfather of Shaddai Karunye Jahaziel and Apphiah Wambui Jahaziel.

He was an uncle and great-uncle to many. A dear friend, a counsellor and a mentor to many.

Friends and family meet daily at his home in Mawingu, Kipipiri, and at USANII in Ongata Rongai, near Laiser Hill Academy.

The cortege will leave North Kinangop Catholic Hospital (Kwa Ng’othi) at 8.00 am, and the funeral service and burial will be held on Tuesday, 28th January 2025, at his residence in Mawingu, Kipipiri.
