JOSEPH JAMES OYARO MAYAKA

It is through God’s grace and humble acceptance of His will that the family of the late Chief Evaresto Mayaka and the Priest in charge of Marani Catholic Parish, announces the calling to eternal rest of Joseph James Oyaro Mayaka on Friday November 12th, 2021, at Coptic Hospital, Nairobi after a bravely fought but short battle with illness. He was the Parish Pastoral council Chairman of Marani Catholic Parish, Committee member of Mamma and Rikenye Primary Schools and former Chairman of Marani Hospital.

Loving husband to the late Mary Nyaboke, a great father to Dennis Angwenyi, Geoffrey  Orwaru (both deceased), Maureen Oyaro (IEBC, Makueni), Dorcie and Duncan Oyaro (ESF Consultants, Nairobi) and Lilian Kerubo. A doting and adoring grandfather to Nicole, Grace, Mercy, Celine, Malaika, Daniel and Almasi.

Son to Evaresto Mayaka Ongondi and Cecilia Moraa (both deceased). Step-son to Pasfika Nyamunsi, Prisca, Nyamorambo (all deceased) and Sarah Mbone. Loving nephew to the late Lawrence Gichana, Nyaboke, Nyaunga, Keresensia Nyabonyi, Ongondi, Omingo, Oinga, Rosalia Nyakarita and many others who cherished him.

Son in-law to Ochenge and Maria Bonareri (both deceased) of Daraja Mbili, Kisii. Brother to Jeliah Nyong’a, Dr. Frederick Gisemba, Divina Ratemo, Robert Ong’ondi, Jane Ondieki, Francis Mayaka, Jane, Melphone Mayaka, Reuben Mayaka, Thaddeus Morira, Joyce Salome. Sira, Concepta Nyakerario, Nyaboke, Christine, Titus, Mokeira, Marion, Stella, Kwamboka,Tom, Zipporah and Fanilla. Also brother to the following who are all deceased Valentine Aonclia, Aloys, Jemimah, Augustine Nyagetuba, Imelda Moige, Philbert Ong’ondi, Onyancha, Dismus Angwenyi and Phanice.

Korera to the late Helekiah Agunda Ndeda and Mama Mary, Maggy and Dorcas Agunda of Gem Ndere. Brother-in-law to the late Nyongsa, Nehemiah, Teresa Oyaro, Lucy Gisemba, Dorothy Nyagetuba, Ether Ong’ondi, Norah Siro, Esther Melphon, Priska, Irene Njeru, Monyangi, Beatrice, Maximilla, Mellen, Margaret and Kennedy, among others.

Uncle to Hon. Charles & Everlyne Keganda, Mageto, Mosoti (USA), Vincent. Onsare, Roseline, Mellen, Felisters, Dr. Matilda Ongondi, Dr. Ken Muma, Pontianna, Jacwayden, Martha, Sylvia, Edward, Maggy, Eugene,Alexjackie, Queenvelly, Maureen, Caro, Kevin, Bramwell, Maxwell, Joyce, Ursula, Edward Mayaka, Onchuru and Zipporah among others. A last expenses fundraising is scheduled for Tuesday November 23rd, 2021, from 6.00pm, at The Holy Family Basilica, Cardinal Otunga Annex, 7th Floor – St. John Paul II Hall.

The Requiem mass will be held on Thursday November 256,2021 at 8.00am, at St Austin’s Catholic Church, Msongari.

His final resting rites and thanks-giving will be held on Friday November 26th, 2021 at his Mwamayaka home, Kiomooncha Sub-location, Mwagichana Location, Marani Sub-county, Kisii County.
