JULIE OGWELL

Our family is deeply saddened to inform you of the demise of Mrs Julie Achieng Ogwell on Friday 9th June, 2023 at Mediheal Hospital – Eldoret while in surgery. She was 75 years.

Mama Ogwell was born on 26th February, 1948 in Rangala Hospital to the late Martin and Felesia Okendo.

In 1966, she married Mr James Ogwell, and together they had 4 children: Dorah, Sheila, Ruth and Jackline.

She is sister to the late Joan Obanda. Mrs Felgona Okendo Gino, Mr Samuel Randiga, the late Deborah Onimbo, the late Elizabeth Awuor, the Late Noel Okoth, Mrs Nelly Okendo and Mr James Yonah Okendo.

She was sister-in-law to Nancy Okendo and Mother-in-law to Mr Vincent Mbaya, Michael Mulhausen and Ken Wadhwa.

She was also blessed with 8 grandchildren: Julie, Martin, Dora, Lulu, Shanyisa, Musa. Lola and Glory. Mrs Ogwell was a mother figure to many.

Mama was a dedicated business lady most of her life. She served in different leadership capacities in Churches, Welfare Groups and SACCO up to her last days. A unique soul, Mama was a true disciplinarian, very funny and enjoyed dancing. She will be greatly missed by many.

On Sunday 18th June, 2023 an overnight prayer and friends’ testimonies will be held at Mama’s Home in Bondo Town, Siaya County (near Bondo District Hospital).

On Monday 19th June, 2023 we shall converge at Avenue Hospital – Kisumu to remove the body of Mama by 7.00am, conduct a short prayer and head to Bondo ACK Church Grounds near the home where we shall conduct a funeral service and burial ceremony from 9.00am to 3.00pm. The close family and church elders shall then proceed to the home to lay Mama to rest at 3.00pm.
