LAY CANON MWALIMU JOSEPH ONYANGO SUMBA

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Lay Canon Mwalimu Joseph Onyango Sumba on 28 October 2024 after a long illness. 

He was the husband of the late Lay Reader Horipah Onyango.

He is the father of Daudi Sumba, Grace Sumba, Ann Sumba, Salome Sumba, Dorcus Sumba, Miriam Sumba, Alice Sumba, the late Truphena Sumba, James Sumba and Elizabeth Omenda. Sister of Jerusa Okaya and Jael Ongong’a.

He is the father in-law of Rev. Truphie Kwaka-Sumba, Christopher Okolo, Zacharia Omenda, the late Newton Otieno and Zedekiah Oyando.

He was in-law of Bishop Erastus and Rev. Agnes Kwaka of Nyahera Kisumu, Charles & Susan Asikoye of Ebulonga Village, the late Bernard and the late Ann Omenda of Ebusundi village, the late Salmon and the late Felecia Osino of Kanyidoto Ndhiwa and George & Florence Oyando of Ebwiranyi village.

Uncle of the Sikobe’s, the Matende’s, Ong’ondo’s, Onduso’s, Sangolo’s among others.

He is grandfather of Sylvia, Annabel, Stacy, Emily, Delphine, Winnie, Tracy, Agnes Akeng’o, Jonathan, Zuri, John Bernard, Marcia, Minerva, Jahaziel, Florencia, Orper, Joseph, Wilma and Jaival. He is great grandfather of Sistine and Scarlet and Jayden.

The cortege will be moved from Masaba Hospital on Thursday 14 November 2024 to A.C. K Holy Trinity Church, Enyaita for a funeral service at 10.00 a.m.

Burial will be on Friday 15 November 2024 at his home Ikokwa Village, Ebusakami Location, Luanda Sub-county, Vihiga County starting at 9.00 a.m.
