LT. COL. PETER NJIRU GATEMA

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Retired Lt. Col. Peter Njiru Gatema of the Salvation Army, which occurred on 9th September, 2023.

Loving husband to Jedida Warue. Father to Judith Giciku/Daniel Mwaniki, Martha Rwamba/Patrick Kamani, Serah Wanjuki/ Gregory Somba, Alice Muthanje/ Isaak Munyenze, Lydia Wandia/ Henry Jenkins, the Late Rachel Mutitu/Mark Mochama, the Late Hosea Nyaga, Catherine Giciku, Margaret Kina & Loice Marigu.

Brother to the Late Eli Mbaka, the Late Lydia Shadrack, and Loise Musa. Step-brother to the late Zabedi, Reuben, Penina, Solomon, Susanah, Simon, Ebrahim, late Bedan, Loise, Jennifer and the Late Isaiah.

Brother-in-law to Hosea and Prisca Kina among others.

Grandfather to Peter Njiru, Stephen, Andrew, Samuel, Kathryn, Pamela, Peter Mureithi, and Tatiana amongst 18 others. Adoring great grandfather to 9 great grandchildren.

Friends and family are meeting daily at his Kaithege home, Kyeni North West location, Embu County for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Funeral Home Thika, on Saturday, 23rd September, 2023 at 7.00am. The funeral service will thereafter be held at Mufu Primary School Grounds. Burial at his Kaithege home.

Mzee has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
