LUCY WANGARI NJUGU

27th April, 1944 – 7th November, 2021

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lucy Wangari Njugu, of Skuta. Nyeri, a former Matron at Nyeri PGH, after a short illness in Northern California, U.S.A.

She was the daughter of Mwalimu (Teacher) Simon Njoroge Njugu and Jerioth Wamuyu Njugu. Beloved mother to Rose Wanjiku Njugu and Pamela Muringo Njugu. Doting grandmother to Calvin Mwihuri Njugu. She was the sister to Margaret Thongori, the late John Gathogo, the late Njoroge, Joseph Njugu, Irene Wanjiru, the late Guthia, and Nelly Gathuma.

She was sister-in-law to the late Joseph Thongori, Ephraim Gathuma, Njoki Gathogo, and Wanjiku Njoroge. She was the loving auntie to the Thongoris, the Gathumas (Gatitu, Nyeri) the Wanjirus, Njoroge’s and the Gathogos, (Mukurweini), and beloved great-aunt to many.

It is with an acceptance of God’s will that we, her family, honour her memory, her legacy, her work, her immeasurable gifts, her sound advice, and pray that God will grant her soul eternal rest.
