MAMA YUNIA OGWENO OMONDI

It is with grief and humble acceptance of God’s will we regret to announce the passing on and celebration of the life and times of a matriarch, Mama Yunia Ogweno Omondi who died on Sunday, 19th July, 2020.

She was wife of the late Jaduong Enoka Omondi (Osoo) Okull of Nyakach Kabodho, Pap Onditi location, Kisumu County. Mama Yunia was the last born daughter of the late Muok Nyabinda Odayo, a luo Legend and the late Mama Sabina Nyaboke of Ringa Kojwach, Karachuonyo, Homabay County. Sister of the late Domnikus Oko, late Amolo Muok, late Dorca Ogwojo, late Flora Ayanga Okidia, late Ngonde Achola and the late Mama Arogo. She was aunt of Samson Muga Nyagowa, Silas Ogwojo, Simon Nyagowa, Daudi Ondende, Elias Oko and Cariculus Owiti, among others. She was niece of the late Mayaka-Mayaka, cousin of late Otongino Mamboleo Nyaboke, Kemuma Moraa, Mansae and aunt of Okeri, Peter Mambo, among others of Bogesumi location, Nyamira County. In-law of the late Mathlida Adam Odumbe, Christabel Dianga Ojwang, late Titus Okull, late Nyamita Dimo and late Oila Dimo.

She was mother of eight children namely Pastor Boaz Okull, the late Lawrence Odhiambo, Professor Paul Omondi of Moi University, the late Peter Oyamo, the late Rose Atieno, John Ochieng of Canada, Hon. Elija Omondi and Bishop Willkchyster Omondi of Kenya Pipeline Company. Mother in-law of Florence Omondi, Lilian Odhiambo, Dr. Rose Kisia of Jaramogi University, late Pamela Oyamo, Alice Ochieng, Martha Miganda and Eng. Kennedy Aloo. Mama had 26 grandchildren including; Sam, Dan, Dorothy, Lencly, Unice, Enock (Vivian), Maureen, Quinter, Alice, Marvin, Pervin, Frank, Don, Brenda, Jemima, Eunice, Zeph, Enock, Peter, Terrance, Rosemary, Cleophas, Elija Junior, Morgan, Mary and Daria. She was grandmother in-law of Margret and Naomi Wambui. Great grandmother of sixteen children including Ruth, Anna, Nathan Don, Ciiru, amongst others.

The cortege leaves Star Hospital, Kisumu City on Friday 31st July 2020 and burial on Saturday 1st August, 2020 at her home in Nyakach, Kabodho Pap Onditi Location, Kisumu County, Kakal Village.

Her love for her family, relatives, friends, Christians and all will be deeply missed.
