MARGARET MASSAWA ODERA

It is with the humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Sister Margaret Massawa Odera on 19th October, 2023, formerly Senior Deputy Director Ministry of Education, Jogoo House. She taught at Upper Hill High School, Nairobi and Ng’iya Girls High School, Siaya County.

She was the wife to the late Alfred Haggai Ogada Odera of Malanga, Gem, Siaya County. Loving mother to Lorna Obia, Simon Peter, Josiah, Philip, Maureen,Annette, Beatrice. Mother-in-law to Obia Achieng and Esther Biryaho.

Sister-in-law to Engineer Sande Odera, the late Ben, Erick, Argwings, Austin, Professor Odera, Duke Rading and David.

Daughter to the late Michael Massawa and the late Celestine Massawa of Siranga Sub-location, Ukwala location, Siaya County.

Daughter-in-law of the of the late Simon Odera Ogada and Beatrice Agola Odera of Gem Malanga, Siaya County.

Sister to Anthony, Anna, the late Francis, Florence, Peter, Maurice and James, among others.

Sister-in-law to Dr. Wanga, Elly Owiti, the late Margaret Wangare Otuka, Emily Ojoo-Massawa, the late Everlyn Odera, Rose Ondier, Hellen Massawa and Damaris Oduke.

Cousin to the Otukas, Siwolo, among others and a close aunty and friend to many.

A fundraising to offset the medical and funeral expenses will be held on 1st November, 2023 at The All Saints Cathedral at 5.00pm.

Memorial service will be held on 5th November, 2023 at Capstone Faith Ministries (former GEMS Cambridge School), Magadi Road.

The burial will be on 11th November, 2023 at her home in Malanga Village, Gem, Siaya County.
