Acknowledging that God is sovereign and in control of all things, we the Karanja Karungu family regret to inform you of the sudden death of our Matriarch, Margaret Njoki Karanja of Ridgeways Springs, Nairobi on 8th July 2024.

Margaret was born in Kaheti Village, Mukurweini in Nyeri County on 26th August 1949.

Wife of the late John P. Karanja Karungu, a wonderful mother of Kelvin Karungu, Ngina & Wagema and Wamaitha Wamz! Ever present & loving Cucu of Erica Njoki,

Gathigia Wagema, Keith Karanja, Karanja Wagema, Kaylan Njoki, Kalya Wagema, Olivia Njoki and Nina Wangechi, among others.

Great-Grandmother of many. Fun yet strict Aunt of the Karungu’s & Wagema’s.

Third born daughter of the late Raphael & Marata Wagema Ruitha of Kaheti Village, Mukurweni. Sister of the late Constant & Teresia Ruitha, the late Agasta Mwihaki, the late John & Wangari Ruitha, Simon & Rose Mathenge, Susan & late Daljit Matharu, Esther & late Joseph Miano, Joe & Bibiana Gachiri, Mary Wanjiku (UK), Alice Dada & Joseph Karanja (Sagas) and Jane & Don Johnson (USA).

Daughter-in-law of the late Charles Karungu Karanja and Mary Wamaitha, Jemimah Muthoni and Naomi Wanjiku Karungu (all late). Sister-in-law of Agatha Njambi & Jonah Kariuki (Naivasha), Patrick Waruiru, Dr. Peter & Babani Karungu (SA), Agnes Wambui & the late David & Alice Mukui Karungu. Michael Karanja Karungu (Gwa Gatimu), the late Eng. Zachary Karungu, Joe Samson Karanja, the late Stephen Thuku Mung’ara (STEM) and all the Karungu’s of Gwa Gatimu Village – Kirangi, Gatundu South.

Family and friends are meeting at her Ridgeways Springs home, off Kiambu Road for prayers from Tuesday, 9th to 12th July at 5pm.

Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, 12th July at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church Ridgeways, Kiambu Road at 12:30pm.
