Mzee David Mutinda Kambi (Umau)

It is with acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Mzee David Mutinda Kambi (Umau) on the morning of Thursday 14th May 2020 at Kitui.

He was son of the late Kambi wa Nzilu and the late Kavindo Kambi. Loving husband to the late Mary Miti Kivui and later the late Martha Kalondu Kimondiu. Father of the late Julia Kavula, Beatrice Kalekye, Hon. John Mutinda, Hon. Daniel Mutinda, Stephen Mutinda, Jemimah Kasiisii, Peter Mutinda, Joel Mutinda, the late Abel Mutinda, the late Mary Mutinda, Grace Mutinda, James Mutinda, Damaris Mutinda, Joseph Mutinda, and Philip Mutinda. Father-in-law of the late Paul Melika, Joel Kondo, Florence Mutinda, Agnes Mutinda, Schola Mutinda, Mwanzia Musyoka,Teresia Mutinda, Violet Mutinda, Nduku Mutinda, Jane Mutinda, Justina Mutinda, Monica lsika, and Agnes Isika.

Brother of the late Sarah Muindi, and step-brother of the late Mwandikwa Kambi, the late Nyamai Kambi, and the late Kitonde Kambi. Cousin of the late Syokau, the late Syovata, and the late Musyoka lmali of Ithimani, Kitui, and the late Arthur Karembu, and the late Walter Njiru, among others, from Kirinyaga. Umau Mutinda was a grandfather, a great grandfather, and a great great grandfather to many ,in a family, spanning five generations.

Umau Mutinda is fondly remembered by many whom he taught and mentored during his days as a school teacher at Kaani Primary School in Machakos, Mui Primary School in Kitui, Ithookwe Primary School in Kitui, and Unyaa Primary School in Kitui, from where he retired from teaching.

Mzee Mutinda is also remembered for his dedicated pioneering work in Christian ministry over a period of 70 years with the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Kalimenza, AIC Isaangwa, AIC Isovya, AIC Changwithya, and AIC Misewani.

His body will be laid to rest on Saturday 23rd May 2020 at his home in Misewani, Kyangwithya East, Kitui Central.
