MZEE NDERITU MARICHO (HSC)

Mzee Nderitu Maricho, HSC was a Mau Mau veteran who heeded the call to save his Mother Land among other patriotic men and women.

He joined the Mau Mau movement in 1952, where he fought alongside generals such as Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi, General China, General Mathenge Mirugi, General Kariba, General Tanganyika and so on. He lost his right leg in the war but he refused to surrender and was detained in several detention camps and released in 1961.

He was blessed with a beautiful family, his wife Grace Wanjira, children, Nancy Gathuku (Co-op Bank), Mercy Magothe, Catherine Wambui, the late Maricho, Esther Ngendo, Isaac Wanjohi, Jackline Muringo, Martin Njuki.

Brother to the late Njuki, late Muriithi, late Kimondo and Mwangi Maricho.

Brother in-law to Rev. Mathenge, In-law to Gathuku’s, Kinyua’s and others. Grandfather and great-grandfather to many.

The cortege will leave Jamii Hospital Karatina on Thursday, 16/2/2023 at 8.00am for burial at his Gatakaini home, Ruguru Location, Mathira, Nyeri County.
