PROF. EZEKIEL OKEMWA (NOBEL PRIZE LAUREATE)

It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of the Lord’s will that we announce the passing on of Prof. Ezekiel Okemwa that occurred on Sunday 19th November 2023 while undergoing medical treatment at Tenwek Hospital.

The late Professor, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, who held a PhD in Biological Oceanography from the University of Brussels, a Master of Science (M. Sc) degree in fundamental Marine Ecology, Postgraduate Marine Ecology and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) from the University of Nairobi. He was the former director at (KEMRI) and Lecturer aNd Associate professor at Technical University of Mombasa, Co-founding director Coral Junior Primary and High school, Chairman of ENTAERO SACCO, founder of Harvest of Hope Self Help Group and Church Ministry.

The late professor was the son of the late Dishon and Rebecca Okemwa, Son-in-law to the late Charles and Esther Nyagwansa.

Loving father to Mr. Frank Okemwa CEO and Founder MyHire and Rentals, Mr. Paul Okemwa Systems engineer – Pexcel solutions, Dr. Elizabeth Okemwa Senior Consultant General Surgeon at Tenwek Hospital, Mr. Loicz Okemwa Teacher Coral High School, Mr. Boniface Okemwa – Coral High School, Ms. Sheila Okemwa, Mr. Joseph Okemwa ~ Accountant 1&M Bank. Father-in-law to Mary Maina – Co-founder MyHire & Rentals and Pauline Ndinda.

He was Brother to Mr. Wilfred Okemwa former KRA Commissioner and NTSA board member, Oenga (deceased),
Miruka (deceased), Martin Okemwa, Keziah Okemwa (deceased), Jason Okemwa, Julius Okemwa, Jackton Kenyatta (deceased), Queen and Nyabuto.

Step-brother to Evans Okemwa amongst others.

First cousins to the Ongubos, Naphrali lgendia amongst others. Nephew to Ongubo, Kerubo amongst others.

Brother-in-law to Morengo (deceased), Helena, Florence, Billa, Janet, Jane (deceased), Mogoa, Karen, Elizabeth, Mbicha, Moraa, Helena, Anna (deceased), Otondi,Wilkister, Ouru, Jane. He was uncle and cousin to many.

He was the grandfather to Milan, Milena, Faithrose, Esther, Rehema, Talia, Precious and Rael Esther.

Meetings are being held daily for prayers, fundraising and funeral arrangements at his home in Mowapa – Kilifi and ac Mombasa Summit Grill, VOK from 5.30pm.The main physical fundraising will be held on Tuesday the 05th December 2023 at KPA Mbaraki Sports Club from 4. 00pm.

The cortege leaves Pandya Memorial Hospital on the 07th December at 11. 00am followed by a memorial service at his home in Mewapa at 2. 00pm.

The funeral will thereafter take place in his home at Mtwapa on the 08th December 2023.
