REV. FR. ERASTUS GATHATHU

The Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri and members of the family regrets to announce the demise of Rev. Fr. Erastus Gathathu Wanjau who passed on while undergoing treatment at Mater Hospital — Nairobi on Monday 21/6/2021.

Beloved son of the late Francis Wanjau and Nancy Muringo. He was the brother to Ephraim Muriithi, Joseph Mwangi, James Kiongo, Anthony Karua ,Alice Njoki, Late Stephen Giting’a, Lucy Wambui, Mary Wairimu, Jackline Wanjiru and Patrick Njogu.

He was a brother in law to Alice Wambui Muriithi, Rosemary Muthoni Mwangi, Jane Nyahura Kiongo, Ann Muthoni,Giting’a, Esther Njoki Kamau, Jane Wangari Njogu, Bernard Munge Wotuku and John Kamutu Muteti. He was an uncle to many.

Rev. Fr. Gathathu has served the church in many places including; Magumu Catholic Parish, Kaheti, Mathari chaplainancy, Chaplain — Srs. of Mary Immaculate, Wamagana Parish, Birithia Parish, St. Paul Minor Seminary (Spiritual Director), Mukurwe-ini, Kiamuiru and finally Gatarakwa Catholic Parish where he served with love until his demise.

There will be a requiem mass on Tuesday 29th June, 2021 at Gatarakwa Catholic Parish beginning at 3:00pm. The cortege leaves St. Michael funeral home — Mathari on Wednesday 30th June, 2021 for funeral mass at Mathari Pastoral grounds from 10:00am and burial thereafter at Mathari clergy cemetery.
