It is with heavy hearts and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the transition of our dear great patriarch Rev. Mzee Fanuel Mukungu Wakhuformer Lay Leader, Kaloleni COG, Principal Lecturer and Head Of Dept (Biology) at KSTC and later, Retired Academician at Starehe Boys’ Centre.

He transitioned on 23rd July , 2024 at Western Kenya Heart & Cancer Hospital, Kisumu.

Devoted husband of Lay Rev. Christine Aluso Wakhu.

Loving father of Dr. Perpetua & Jotham Wanaswa, Pauline & Francis Addikah, Patrick & Irene Wakhu, Jerry & Beatrice Wakhu, Katherine & Cyprian Akide, the late Missionary, James Curtis Wakhu, Gladys, Josephine Wakhu & Patricia Parker.

He was a beloved son of the late Aristarico & Agnetta Mukungu of Elukari Village, Kakamega.

Son-in-law of the late Revs. Habil & Josephine Olembo.

Brother of Meldina Alwala, the late Josiah, the late Francis, Donald and William Wakhu.

Brother-in-law of the late Evans, the late Samuel, the late Prof. Reuben, the late Johnstone, the late Lydia Shikumo, Aggrey, Dr. Sara Olembo, Dr. Norman Olembo, & Prof. Jotham Ombisi.

In-law of The Olembos, Shikumos, Amukunes, Alwalas, the Olukunes, the late Mary, Alice, the late Spencia & Margaret.

Cousin of Rev. Samuel Wakhu, the late Nahashon Shitinyu, Musango Ayuya, the late Shikhule, the late Prof. Eshiwani, the late Mrs. Akasa, Edward Opanda, among others.

Beloved grandfather of Tony, Eng. Linda, Eric Wanaswa; Edward Mukungu, Belinda, Tina, Agnetta, Noella, Martha Addikah; Andia, John, Jimmy Wakhu; Eng.Tina,Walter Wakhu; Dr. Anne, Ray, Bella Esq., Bill Akide; & JR Fanuel Parker.

Adored great grandfather of Tevian Wanaswa & Ethan Fanuel Akide.

Reverend, Professor/Lecturer, Academician/Educator, Mentor, & Colleague to many.

Family & friends are meeting at the family residences in Nairobi and Elukari for prayers.

The cortege leaves Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu on Thursday 1st August 2024 for a church service at Mwihila COG.

Burial is on 3rd August 2024 at his home in Elukari Village, Khwisero Sub-County.

To assist in offsetting the accumulated medical bill & funeral expenses, there will be a fundraiser at his Nairobi residence, Humayun Estate, Nrb. South C. on 31st July 2024.
