ROSALIND KHAYASI CHAKAVA

August 19, 1948 – January 20, 2025

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mama Rosalind Khayasi Chakava, who passed away at Nairobi Hospital on January 20th , 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Jotham Standa and the late Rhoda Standa.

Mrs. Rosalind Chakava was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Henry Miyinzi Chakava.

Beloved mother of Sharon Jendeka Chakava-Banda, Andia Laura Chakava and Dr. Yolanda Musimbi Chakava – O’Regan.

Mother-In-Law of Tim Kamuzu Banda and Jack O’Regan. A doting grandmother of Leilani Auma Banda, Caela Imali O’Regan and Asena Liam O’Regan.

Sister of Prof. Everett Standa (late), Mrs. Mary Angore, Jemima Standa, Tabitha Standa (late), Abigail Standa, Mrs. Janet Makanga, Edith Standa (late), Dorothy Standa, Mrs. Patricia Shisia (late) and Mrs. Hellen Malika (late).

Sister-In-Law of Elijah Chakava (late) & Cllr. Beatrice Chakava, Seth Chakava (late) & Janet Chakava, Dr. Serah Odini & Prof. Cephas Odini and Mrs. Rose Mbago & Paul Mbago (late).

She was also Sister-In-Law of Philip Angore and others.

Cousin of Prof. Norah Olembo (late), Edda Ngaira, Nicholas Simani, Dorcas Otieno, Pamela Wafukhi, Florence Kapten, Ben Ngaira, Francis Mutali, Aggrey Sitati, Mary Shamte, Fredrick Wakhungu, Joseph Baraza, and many others.

Niece of George Wadkela, Javis Kaikai, Kingsley Mutali, Chamai, and many others.

There will be a fundraiser to off-set medical bills and meet funeral expenses on Tuesday, January 28th at the Nairobi Baptist Church (Ngong Road) from 5.00pm.

A requiem service will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at the Nairobi Baptist Church (Ngong Road) from 10am.

The funeral service and interment will be held on Saturday, February 1st , 2025, at her home in Vokoli, Sabatia,Vihiga County.
