ROSEMARY MUTHONI MUNIO

19th August, 1958 – 20th September, 2024

The family of Mrs. Rosemary Muthoni Munio with humble acceptance of God’s will, announce her transition to glory on Friday September 20th 2024 after an illness ravely borne.

She was the beloved wife of Engineer Charles Mwangi Muniu. Daughter of the late Felistas Ngina David and daughter-in-law of the late Mzee Gerald Muniu and Anastacia Karungari.

She was the darling mother of Gerald Muniu Mwangi (Credit Bank) and Dr. Nungari Mwangi (African Development Bank), mother-in-love of Agnes Wangui and Dr. Andrew Muriithi.

In-law to Benson and Jael Muriithi and Monica Nduta. Rosemary was most beloved aunt of Jimmy Mugithi Thiong’o, Patrick Gatheca, Beth Muhoho, David Mugithi.

She was tata to many in the wider Thiong’o and Muniu families. 

She was the treasured sister of Margaret Wanjiru Muhoho (Kiamwangi), the late Lucy Wangui Thiong’o (Nyayo Estate) and the late David Mugithi. She was a well-loved muiiru and sister in law of the wider Muniu family.

She was the loving cucu of baby Alyssa Muthoni Muniu.

A devout catholic and loving mother who always opened her home and heart, she raised and educated many young people especially from Kiamwangi.

She was a brilliant and generous educator, mentor, women’s champion, hiker and community development leader who built up communities all across Kenya in her various personal and professional capacities working with the government of Kenya, bilateral donor aid agencies (NORAD, Norwegian Church Aid, CIDA, CPDA) and serving on the boards of various development organizations including Kiamwangi Secondary School, Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts, the Agriculture Finance Corporation and USAID Kiambu Pamoja Trust.

Her requiem mass will be held on Thursday 26th September 2024 starting at 2.00 pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church Ridgeways.

She will be laid to rest on Tuesday 1st October 2024 at Thaara Village, Kiamwangi in Gatundu South from 10.00 am.

We give all glory to God for the exemplary life of our beloved mother, and may she dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
