SIMEON OKEYO PUNDO

It is with a humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing on of Mr.Simeon Okeyo Pundo. He died on 3rd June 2021 at Homabay District Referral Hospital after a short illness. The late worked at Barclays bank between 1971 to 1997. He was social and very jovial.
He was born on 26th May 1943 to the late Paramount Chief Linus Pundo Agola and the late Mama Teresia Ajwang in a family of nine children most of whom have died. The surviving ones are lsdorah Mathare and Judith Abange. He had many step-mothers among whom are; Kisumo Memba, Grace Atanga, Rosebella Molle, Sella Okumu, Rahel Adiang, Dorca Awino, Nereah Mwanda, Leah Anyango, Angelina Agunda, Rosalina Achola, Magdalina Ongen’g and Zilpa Atieno.
His step brothers were; the late Robinson Otieno, the late John Odoyo, the late John Okomo, the late Peter Ododa, the late John Mariko, the late Samuel Okuku, the late Musa Ouma, the late Lawrence Mboya, Jeremiah Magalo, John Ogenda, Micah Okongo, Andrew Otieno, Samuel Aluoch, John Agolla, Joseph Otieno and Julius Alexander Pundo.
His sisters-in-law are; Peninah Otieno, Meresa Ododa, Josephine Okongo, Jane Ogenda, Susan Ododa, Rosalina Okuku, Jacintz Aluoch, Caro Aluoch, Masline Agola, Mercy Magallo, Benter Magallo, the late Rosa Awando, Dorah Okongo, Wilfrida Okombo, Josphine Anyango, Elsa Okuku, Eunice Aluoch, Silvia Aluoch, Margaret Aluoch, Monica Anyango, Pamela Ogendo, Purity Muhandale and others. His uncles are; the late Oteko Agola, the late Odongo Agola, the late Akelo Agola, the late Jobeto Agola, Odigo Agola, Orego Agola and others.
He got married to Julia Akumu Okeyo in 1973 and Rose Akoth Okeyo in 1977. Together they were blessed with 19 children; the late Rosline Akinyi, Kennedy Odhiambo (Kenya Prisons), Joseph Otieno (Ogande Girls), Janet Auma-Safaricom), Millecent Atieno, Fredrick Odhiambo (Kenya Power), Maxwell Odhiambo (Gendia Boys), Rodgers Oduogo, Maureen Achieng, Ronald Onyango, Steve Ochieng, Betty Atieno, Kevin Nyamai, Beverline Awuor and Regina Atieno and two twins who died at birth.
Father-in-law to Jane Odhiambo, Lillian Joseph, Christabel Fred, Lillian Maxwell, Marren Ronald. His grandchildren were; Yvonne Atieno, Vannesa, Barrrack, Brian, Edwin, Stacy, Rita Simeon, Tiffany, Fridah, Elsa, Simona, Almada, Noela, Ramsey, Morgan, Greg, Maya, Uriel, Bernie, Bruce, Billy, Yvette, Darel, Ethan and two Great-grandchildren namely; Sammy Kagito and Nayana Nyambura.
He was philanthropic and wished well or the community. Just before he died, him and his brother Micah gave a piece of land where a hospital has been built. He championed many other developments in the area.
He will be laid to rest on 18th June at his home in Arombe village, Kanyadoto West Location, under Nyarongi SDA Church, presided over by Pastor Fred Oketch (District Pastor).
We shall dearly miss him.
