TOM OBONDO OKOYO

It is with great sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we, the family of Dr. Tom Obondo Okoyo, announce his death that occurred on 14th January 2022 in Kisumu County. He was a retired Professor of Journalism and Communication.

He was the son of the late Okoyo Oringo and the late Sella Okoyo; loving husband to Lucy Akisa Okoyo; doting father to Caroline Okoyo of WARMA and Ziporah lthau; father-in-law to Michael lthau of Kenya Airways and grandfather to Gabriel, Michael Junior, and Manuel.

He was a caring big brother to Jane Nyadimo, Sam Ogutha and Idah Jakoyo; brother-in-law to Zakayo Nyadimo, Mary Ogutha and the late Simon Jakoyo; son in law to the late Jacob Oshoromo and the late Sarah Ibebe.

He was nephew to the late Zephaniah Omolo, the late Justus Oyare and the late Dan Owiti. He was a caring uncle to Rose, Loise, Lucy, Betty, Vidah, Lee, Jacqueline, Herine, Christian, David, Everlyne, Kennedy, Cliff, Martin, and Harun.

A requiem service will be held on Friday, 28th January 2022 at Masogo Church of Peace, Kombura Location at 2pm.

The body will leave Aga Khan Hospital mortuary in Kisumu on Saturday, 29th January 2022 at 7am. Thereafter, burial will take place in Rabuor illage, Kochieng Location, Kadibo Sub-county, Kisumu County.
