Tony Daniel Onyango Opondo

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden demise of our loving Tony Daniel Onyango Opondo which occurred on 3rd March, 2020.

Husband of Maria Mbole Muinde and Father of Shane Owala Onyango. Beloved son of Thomas William Owala Opondo and Consolata lyaya Opondo. Brother of Albert, the Late Vivian, Arch. Caren, Henry and Sandra Opondo. Grandson to: the Late Gideon Obiero Opondo and the Late Asenath Akeyo Opondo, and Mama Roselida Awino Opondo of Awendo, Migori County. Also Grandson of the Late Clement Otigil Obwaku and Mama Kevina Obwaku of Apokor, Busia County. Son-in-Law of Dr. David Muinde and Dr. Florence Muinde. Brother-in-law of Mercy, Peter and Onesmus Muinde.

Loving Nephew of the Opondos: The Late Elizabeth Manywa, Major (Retired) Dr. Tony Opondo, Harry and Florence Opondo, Joyce Opondo, the Late Habil Onyango, Isaac and Njeri Opondo, Annette Opondo, the Late Christopher Opondo, Pavince Opondo, Olivia Opondo, Sharon Opondo, and the Oduors and the Odhiambos of Awendo District, Migori County. Also loving Nephew of the Obwaku’s:- Dr. and Mrs Ursula Mbati, the Late Assumpta and Peter Mufoyongo, the Late Dennis Obwaku, Andrew and Mary Obwaku, the Late Peter and Petronilla Obwaku, and the Late Fridah Obwaku, The Otwanes, Christine, Winnie and Cimo Obwaku.

The body of the late is lying at Umash Funeral home. Friends and Relatives are meeting daily at the Parent’s house in South B and at Tony’s house at Kipepeo homes (Ngong). Meetings will also be held at Holy Family Basilica on the 9th, 10th and 11th March 2020 as from 5:00 pm for funeral arrangements and fundraising.

Given Tony’s prolific talents as a Rugby Player, who represented Kenya in many International Tours and played for top flight Rugby clubs in Kenya, gaining a number of achievements to his name and our country Kenya, the Kenya Rugby Union Fraternity shall hold a fundraiser. It shall be held on Friday 13th March 2020 at KCB Sports Club — Ruaraka.

The main fundraising will be done at the Holy Family Basilica on Monday 16th March 2020 from 5:00 pm. There will be a funeral service at All Saints Cathedral on Tuesday 17th March from 10:00 am. The cortege will leave Umash Funeral Home on Thursday 19th March 2020 at 7.00 am for Nyarago Village, Awendo District, Migori County for his Burial on Friday 20th March 2020.
